Winter Staycation with Booking.com
There’s nothing better than getting out of the city with a friend or loved one on a spontaneous weekend getaway during the winter months.
Slipping into a robe, ordering room service and taking advantage of all the hotel facilities (massage anyone?) is the perfect way to spend a chilly Saturday and that’s exactly what I did last week thanks to Booking.com
Deciding I wanted a time-out from the usual bar hopping that would take place over the weekend, I decided to check out the Booking Now app, upping the nerd factor by downloading it on my brand spanking new Apple Watch.
Basically, the app suggests the nearest hotels based on your exact location and preferences, so you can wing everything except your accommodation.
I selected ‘Wifi’ and ‘Room Service’ (because who doesn’t want either of those?!) and it pulled up both The Cullen and The Olsen which are only up the road from me.
I’ve been lucky enough to be a guest of every Art Series Hotel Group hotel in Melbourne EXCEPT for The Olsen so tapped twice and before I knew it, I was all booked in.
All that was left to do was chuck an overnight bag together (Peter Alexander PJ’s, Frank Body scrub and my bikini were basically all I needed) and check into my room.
As with all the Art Series hotels, The Olsen’s interiors and art features the work of Australian artist Dr John Olsen and (in my opinion) is one of the softer, more romantic and boutiquey of the hotels.
It’s also one of the biggest, featuring a heated pool, gym, restaurant (Spoonbill) and day spa all within the premises.
My room offered the usual ginormous comfy bed, art library, open plan working, living and kitchenette with designer finishes and complimentary bottle of bubbly on arrival.
If you’re feeling extra fancy there are also rooms featuring spa baths and even a penthouse which features outdoor spa and BBQ and a dining table for 10.
After a night of room service, #RobeLyf and a late check out the next morning, I had almost forgotten I was only a stone throw away from my own apartment.
SO, this weekend, save the pennies you’d be spending on restaurants, cocktails and taxis and instead book yourself your own spontaneous winter getaway with the Booking Now app.
Thank me later.
