Looking After The Money-Maker, part 2
TREATMENT REVIEW: Clear + Brilliant Facial
(Incase you missed part one, you can catch up here!)
The other skin-thing I’ve been coming to appreciate lately is the importance of facials as you get older… and I’m not talking about the lovely, relaxing ones you get at a day spa where they slop a load of lovely smelling cream on your face and give it bit of a push around whilst you listen to the sounds of the rainforest.
I’m talking about serious, adult facials that have actual results.
I’ve spoken before about Derya and her extremely impressive wealth of knowledge and passion for skin care over at Victorian Dermal Group and she is still my number 1 go-to when it comes to my skin care or laser hair removal.
I’d seen a few posts on their Instagram about this “Clear + Brilliant” facial and I wanted in.
The Clear + Brilliant treatment uses safe, fractional laser technology to address the early signs of ageing skin PLUS it helps prevent them. It also helps brighten and even skin tone, smooths fine lines AND improves the texture and pore size of your skin.
It basically refreshes your skin from the inside out- the laser energy creates millions of microscopic treatment zones in the upper layers of the skin, which replaces damaged skin with healthy, younger looking tissue.
Sounds too good to be true right? Well hear me out…
After sitting pretty with some numbing cream all over my face for about 45 minutes, Derya started the treatment.
For those who have been following my blog for a while, you’d know I don’t hold back...
It doesn’t tickle. The numbing cream certainly helps but it’s still a little hot and stingy however nothing unbearable.
After Derya had finished the treatment, my face was a little red, almost sunburnt looking.
She informed me my skin would feel “like sandpaper” for about a week or so, however would look no different and nobody else would be able to tell.
She wasn’t kidding. The next morning I woke up (still slightly pink, but only slightly) and my face feel rough. So rough, that wiping it made a “scratchy” sound.
By the end of the day, the redness had completely gone and I was able to wear make up although it didn’t sit quite the way it’s supposed to, due to my sandpaper skin.
That being said, as promised, nobody else had any idea I’d had the treatment.
One thing I’ll suggest is to lather yourself up in moisturiser whenever you can. Your skin basically drinks the stuff for that week and then before you know it, you’re able to exfoliate your face and unearth the brand new, baby skin.
Something that I really noticed after the Clear + Brilliant treatment was the minimization of the pores on my nose- they were almost non-existent! Derya recommends 3 treatments for the best results so I’ll be going back for round 2 before the Spring Racing Carnival kicks off so that I’m looking more like a filly than a Phar Lap.

So there you have it! A little bit of an insight into how I stay looking at least 5 years younger than I actually am.
Oh, and if you see me in the street, please, don’t ruin my fantasy. Do your best to look shocked and confused when I tell you I’m a hot second away from 30. I’ll love you for it.
